The Great York Air Raid (Fire Over York)

The Great York Air Raid is the forth edition of what was originally York Blitz, the last edition of the book was called Fire Over York. Thirty odd years ago when Leo Kessler (aka Charles Whiting) published his first edition of this book (York Blitz), he gave the Yorkshire Evening Press and the Yorkshire Post, the account, somewhat tongue in cheek, of his own experience as a 15 year old teenager in the Great York Blitz. Now seven decades later, it gives me the greatest of pleasure to introduce a new forth edition of one of Charles Whitings favourite books, and the world for that matter. Whether young or old, reading it for the first time or just refreshing your own experience during those fateful years, as we come towards the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of VE Day, we will remember them.
