The cover of issue 44 carries a picture of Kitchener by Bassano, a well-known society photographer. The first article contains some correspondence between Rawlinson and others. They have not appeared before. Another article is by Dr M Paris, a well known film historian (see his From The Wright Brothers to Top Gun) and John Hussey contributes “Without an Army and Without Any Preparation to Equip One”. This is a study from published sources on “The Financial and Industrial Background to 1914”. A last article titled “Shot by the Enemy, at the Chateau” is a study of the incidents at Guise when a dozen British soldiers were executed in 1915.
